Reckoning it to be so…

Rom 6:11 Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

As Christians, we are said to be a new creation, that we are  renewed, that we are transformed. But what does that all mean if we refuse to recognize it? Our recognition of such a work being accomplished within us certainly doesn’t mean the work has not been done, just as if I don’t recognize the construction of a house it does not mean that work hasn’t been done. Yet how many times do we as Christians not recognize the work of Christ within us? It is usually recognized that we have been justified, that the price has been paid for us, but what about our daily lives? Does not a change in our daily lives follow the payment? Of course as this payment has been made by Christ, so is the change made in our lives by Christ. Yet how many of us don’t reckon this change to be so? It is as if we recognize that Jesus has paid the price for the house to be built, yet we do not recognize it’s construction and sleep on the front step of the new creation that Christ has constructed

You and I must stop sleeping on the front steps of the house Christ has built for us. He has paid and built it so that we may live life more abundantly. A  life that is free from sin and fear. Reckon it to be so. Step through the front door into the new life that Christ has bought and built for you.
